Locus Wines by the glass at Bottlehouse, The Shambles

Bottlehouse, the wine bar and shop in Madrona neighborhood has added 2016 Locus Sémillon to its by the glass rotation. You can now get a 2 oz or 5 oz taste ($10) of the wine, or go directly to bottle. Bottlehouse has been a great supporter of Locus Wines: they carried 2014 Locus Rosé at the wine shop, had a special red blend (2015 Locus Tank #2) on tap, as well as 2013 Locus Red few years ago. Check the list out before Locus goes off the rotation at the Bottlehouse’s website or simply drop in at 1416 34th AVE Seattle, WA. 98122, (less than a block north of Union on 34th).

Another location carrying Locus on tap is the new butcher shop/bar, The Shambles. The Maple Leaf space has been making quiet the noise in the press since it opened (see Seattle Times or the Eater Seattle articles). Among the awesomely long list of beers and wines on tap, you will find 2015 Locus Rosé. The Shambles is located at 7777 15th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98115 and it is open every day at noon until close.

Spring Release Party – Usher in the new Rosé and 2016 Modo Red

Finding yourself exclaiming “Spring is finally here!” only to wake up the next morning to snow and ice?  We’d be lying if we said that hadn’t happened to us.  Well, we’ve decided to take matters into our own hands, Mother Nature be damned.  It’s time to officially usher in the sunshine and warmth with our annual Locus Spring Release Party!

Come join us on Saturday, April 21st from 2-6pm at 1515 Madrona Drive, Seattle, WA 98122 as we introduce the world to two new wines: the more-fragrant-than-it-has-a-right-to-be 2017 Locus Rosé and the 2016 Locus Modo Red – the Official Red Wine of Summer (we’re calling it now).  As always, we will also be pouring all current releases and our resident culinarian will be pairing each wine with a spring-inspired culinary treat. Here is the wine lineup for the tasting:

  • 2017 Locus Rosé – NEW (Grenache. Cinsault, Mourvédre blend)
  • 2016 Locus Rosé (Grenache. Cinsault, Mourvédre blend)
  • 2016 Locus Modo White
  • 2016 Locus Sémillon, Dineen Vineyards
  • 2016 Locus Modo Red – NEW
  • 2014 Locus Red (GSM blend)
  • 2015 Locus Nord (Syrah heavy blend, in Northern Rhone style)

PLEASE NOTE: we’re making two changes to the usual format.  There will be a check-in table at the start of your tasting experience at which we will check IDs (21 and over only, please).  We will also collect a $5 tasting fee per person.  Don’t worry, though, it will be refunded with any purchase.  Socius Wine Club members will have the fee waived.

Please RSVP on the Facebook page or send us an email at info@locuswines.com

Locus Wines Fall Party: November 11th, 2-6PM in Madrona

November means it’s time for another Locus red to be released.  This year, we’re happy to introduce the 2015 Locus Nord, the yin to the yang of the 2015 Locus Sud.  “Nord” is the French word for “north” and we’ve fashioned this wine after some of our favorite Northern Rhône blends, which must be Syrah-dominant by law.  It’s 64% Syrah (from the Strand and Gamache vineyards), 23% Cinsault and 13% Mourvèdre (both from the 7 Mile vineyard).  While the Syrah dominates, the Cinsault brings bold fruit to the front of the palette, while the Mourvèdre adds a dark finish.  We’re excited to share our inaugural Nord blend with the masses!

As always, we’ll be showcasing the current line-up of Locus wines, all paired with specially-designed culinary bites from Esca Catering.  There will also be an exclusive treat in store for our Socius wine club members to enjoy.  Come join us to celebrate the start of the holiday season and the release of the 2015 Locus Nord!

Here is what the menu looks like:

Sunshine and Sémillon…. Finally, summer is here. So is the 2016 Locus Sémillon.

Please join us to celebrate the arrival of our annual single vineyard white. We will pour the new 2016 release alongside the 2015 version (it’s always fun to compare) and we may even have a few bottles of the older vintage to sell to wine club members, too.  We are also going to preview the 2015 Locus Nord, the older and slightly more serious cousin to the bright and happy Sud. If you like it, you can purchase futures at a great discount to pick up in November.  As always, we’ll be pouring through most of our current releases (and, most likely, a surprise wine) and pairing everything with delicious bites from Ton’s catering company, ESCA.

Locus Wines Spring Release Party – Saturday, April 22nd, 2-6PM in Madrona

Come join us on Saturday, April 22nd from 2pm – 6pm at 1515 Madrona Dr., Seattle, WA 98122 to taste through all our current releases and our two new wines: The 2016 Locus Rosé and the first ever 2016 Locus Modo White (and, knowing us, some other surprises may be in store, as well). As always, all wines will be paired with delicious bites from our sister company, ESCA Catering.

RSVP now on our Facebook event page.

We will also launch our redesigned wine club, Socius, with a more traditional tiered membership system, as well as the Locus Swag Shop, where you can get your Locus-branded couture, courtesy of our Swag Designer Tony.

Finally, we will welcome back our friends at Pearl and Stone Wine Company.  They’ll be showing off their fantastic new 2016 Unemployment Beach Rosé and the 2014 Wandering Red.

Your new summer obsessions are here.

The new 2016 Locus Rosé is basically the same blend as last year’s model but the final result is actually very different – very expressive on the nose (like fresh nectarines) and citrusy-peachy juiciness in the mouth.

For our inaugural version of our table white, we went with a clean, fresh Bordeaux-style blend of Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc.  It is an early favorite here at the winery, so make sure you get a chance to try it before it’s gone (sadly, only 241 cases were produced).

Are you a Sociuspath?
We are rebranding our Socius rewards program to create a more traditional wine club with three different membership levels:

  • Socius Fanatic – for those looking to sample each of our new releases.
  • Socius Stalker – for those who may be a little obsessed (in a good way) and still want some choice on what wines they receive
  • Sociuspath (limited to 20 members) – for those who want it all – the wine, the experience, and a hand in helping shape the future of Locus Wines.

Details about the Socius Wine Club will be available at the event.  Be the first to sign up before we open it up to everyone online! See you on in the afternoon on Saturday, April 22nd in Madrona neighborhood. You can RSVP here on Facebook Locus Wines Spring Party event page.

We Said We’d Never Do It. We are Doing It.

oBut you know, sometimes an opportunity just presents itself and it’s too good to turn down.  We never intended to have a Locus tasting room, especially this early in our development, but when we met the folks from The Tasting Room in Post Alley, we changed our mind.  The Tasting Room offers the best of Washington’s viticultural bounty in an old world-style wine bar, focusing only on winemaker-owned wineries.  We’ll be joining other great Washington wineries like Naches Heights, Nota Bene, and Wilridge as part of a tasting cooperative in historic Pike Place Market.

57869361_-c4zav3axwvr6cfgx2fsrbdx8jlvc-qujo2tfiu3k3kTo celebrate our new adventure, we are holding an invitation-only party this coming Friday night (November 18th) at the Tasting Room.  We’ve only got room for 25 guests and your name will need to be on the guest list in order to get in.  It’s *that* kind of party. Joking aside, the space is very limited and they cannot accommodate walk-ins.

In addition to our Locus wines, we’ll be tasting through offerings from five other wineries with bites from the new catering company, ESCA. If you’re interested in attending, reply to this email or shoot us a note at socius@locuswines.com to make sure we get your name on the list. There is no cost to attend.

If you can’t make it on Friday, we encourage you to check out The Tasting Room the next time you’re down at Pike’s Place Market.  They’re open from noon to 8pm everyday, except this Friday where they will close at 6 to prep for the special event.  They  have a great happy hour Mondays through Thursdays, from 5pm-7pm with discounts on glass pours, bottles and small plates. You can order wines by the glass, experience tasting flights, or just buy a bottle to take home.  We’re thrilled to be part of this great venue!

Locus Modo on Tap at the BOTTLEHOUSE

Bottlehouse, wine bar and shop, in Madrona has tapped the 2014 Locus Modo Red. It is now available for glass pour at your convenience, pretty much every day from 3PM until close.

Locus is no stranger to Bottlehouse. Over the last year or so, various Locus wines were on the glass pour list (Semillon, Rosé, 2013 Red) as well as the bottle list (2012 StoneTree Syrah). Now it is full circle with the addition of Modo Red in the Bottlehouse offerings.
