91 points from Wine Spectator for the 2013 Locus Red

numer-91The 2013 Locus Red got a 91 point rating from Wine Spectator in its most recent issue (dated March 31, 2016). The ratings, which can also be found online at winespectator.com, calls the wine “Bright and tangy, with a certain density to the lively raspberry, rhubarb and plum flavors as they dance with refined tannins on the finish. Syrah and Grenache. Drink now through 2021. 123 cases made.- HS”

The 2013 Locus Red ($25/bottle) was not the only wine that got favorable consideration from the respected wine portal. The 2012 Locus Syrah and the recently released (and flying off the shelves) 2014 Locus Modo Red also got nods.

The 2012 Locus Syrah, Wahluke Slope, StoneTree Vineyard ($25/bottle) was rated at 89 points: “Broad and generous, with a dusty edge to the blackberry and black cherry flavors. Fine-grained tannins are deployed around the persistent finish. Best after 2017. 175 cases made.- HS

The 2014 Locus Modo Red ($15/bottle) got a 88 points: “Soft and ripe, with generous red and blackberry flavors, finishing with a refreshing lilt. Merlot, Malbec, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2019. 623 cases made. – HS

Sip Northwest Magazine’s Daily Sip: 2013 Locus Red

IMG_9780_edited2013 Locus Red (Rhone-style blend of Syrah and Grenache) made it on the front page of Sip Magazine Northwest’s website with some very endearing words for the wine. You can read the 2013 Locus Red Daily Sip on Sip Northwest but this particular piece made our day: “With bright acidity reminiscent of Yakima Valley’s cool evenings, followed by a soft earthiness to exude sunny days on the vineyard, this Syrah-Grenache fusion is all the motivation we need to become a part of the Locus lifestyle.”

Locus lifestyle. That’s right.
