Locus Wines winemaker Rich Burton will be on hand to pour at an impromptu Tasting Room Saturday, April 14th, from 1-5PM. The tasting room is making all Locus Wines available in wine flights, so you can taste them all before you commit to a glass or even better a bottle. Or two.
As you know, the Tasting Room always has Locus Wines as part of its flights but not all of them are on there usually and not all flights are all Locus. So, this impromptu tasting room event is indeed something special.
Chances are, Rich will stay way longer than the happy hour, so it is an opportunity to get some face time with the winemaker with very little interruption No need to RSVP or to call ahead. Just show up at your convenience.
The Tasting Room is located at 1924 Post Alley, Seattle, WA 98101 right across from Pink Door and next to Kell’s between Stewart and Virginia. You don’t need to call them to make a reservation but if you get lost and need to find them, call them at (206) 770-9463.
Finding yourself exclaiming “Spring is finally here!” only to wake up the next morning to snow and ice? We’d be lying if we said that hadn’t happened to us. Well, we’ve decided to take matters into our own hands, Mother Nature be damned. It’s time to officially usher in the sunshine and warmth with our annual Locus Spring Release Party!
Come join us on Saturday, April 21st from 2-6pm at 1515 Madrona Drive, Seattle, WA 98122 as we introduce the world to two new wines: the more-fragrant-than-it-has-a-right-to-be 2017 Locus Rosé and the 2016 Locus Modo Red – the Official Red Wine of Summer (we’re calling it now). As always, we will also be pouring all current releases and our resident culinarian will be pairing each wine with a spring-inspired culinary treat. Here is the wine lineup for the tasting:
2017 Locus Rosé – NEW (Grenache. Cinsault, Mourvédre blend)
2016 Locus Rosé (Grenache. Cinsault, Mourvédre blend)
2016 Locus Modo White
2016 Locus Sémillon, Dineen Vineyards
2016 Locus Modo Red – NEW
2014 Locus Red (GSM blend)
2015 Locus Nord (Syrah heavy blend, in Northern Rhone style)
PLEASE NOTE: we’re making two changes to the usual format. There will be a check-in table at the start of your tasting experience at which we will check IDs (21 and over only, please). We will also collect a $5 tasting fee per person. Don’t worry, though, it will be refunded with any purchase. Socius Wine Club members will have the fee waived.
November means it’s time for another Locus red to be released. This year, we’re happy to introduce the 2015 Locus Nord, the yin to the yang of the 2015 Locus Sud. “Nord” is the French word for “north” and we’ve fashioned this wine after some of our favorite Northern Rhône blends, which must be Syrah-dominant by law. It’s 64% Syrah (from the Strand and Gamache vineyards), 23% Cinsault and 13% Mourvèdre (both from the 7 Mile vineyard). While the Syrah dominates, the Cinsault brings bold fruit to the front of the palette, while the Mourvèdre adds a dark finish. We’re excited to share our inaugural Nord blend with the masses!
As always, we’ll be showcasing the current line-up of Locus wines, all paired with specially-designed culinary bites from Esca Catering. There will also be an exclusive treat in store for our Socius wine club members to enjoy. Come join us to celebrate the start of the holiday season and the release of the 2015 Locus Nord!
This Thursday, September 21st, from 5-7PM, the Tasting Room in the Post Alley is holding a Locus Wines happy hour with winemaker Rich Burton in tow. The wine flights, the Locus Wines bottles will all be discounted to happy hour pricing during the evening. Chances are, Rich will stay way longer than the happy hour, so it is a chance to spend some cycles with the winemaker with very little interruption before he gets all busy with the crush, if you so desire. No need to RSVP or call ahead. Just show up at your convenience.

We are also going to preview the 2015 Locus Nord, the older and slightly more serious cousin to the bright and happy Sud. If you like it, you can purchase futures at a great discount to pick up in November. As always, we’ll be pouring through most of our current releases (and, most likely, a surprise wine) and pairing everything with delicious bites from Ton’s catering company, ESCA.

Locus Wines are infiltrating Costco locations in waves, starting this weekend at Tukwila SouthCenter Costco and then expanding in the metropolitan Seattle area stores. Specifically, Costco is going to carry the 2015 Locus Sémillon from Dineen Vineyard and the 2014 Locus Modo Red, a Merlot/Malbec blend.
To promote the new relationship, we (Locus folks and Barrique Imports crew in collaboration) are spending time at the various Costcos every Friday and Saturday to promote the wines, from 10AM to 6PM.
Yesterday, Rich and Barrique’s own Adrienne were on hand in Tukwila. Today, Barrique folks are going to continue the promotion. Barrique folks are going to continue with the presentations in Aurora location next weekend. Locus crew takes over Kirkland over the 2nd and 3rd of September. Please come and see us if you are in the neighborhood.
Here is the schedule for Costco presentations (not tastings):
August 19th, 10AM-6PM – Tukwila Costco
August 20th, 10AM-6PM – Tukwila Costco
August 26th, 10AM-6PM – Aurora Village Costco
August 27th, 10AM-6PM – Aurora Village Costco
September 2nd, 10AM-6PM – Kirkland Costco
September 3rd, 10AM-6PM – Kirkland Costco
Will Locus Wines sell at all Costcos? To be determined.
The first weekend of the month means Locus Wines time at Barrique Wines (a retail wine shop and event space, owned by our distributor Barrique Imports), where we turn the place in to the Locus Wines tasting room for the weekend. This happens every first weekend of each month, by the way. Stop by and taste the Locus lineup on either day.
