On Saturday, Locus Wines winemaker Rich Burton is pouring the line up at the Hellam’s Vineyard wine store from 1 to 6PM. The daffodils are out so maybe in between visiting the fields, you should stop by. More information on the Hellam’s Vineyard website.
Our proprietary blend does it again and in an even more spectacular manner: The 2015 Locus Red won Double Gold in the Rhone blend category, besting its previous vintage iterations (2013 Locus Red and 2014 Locus Red won Gold in the same competition, in 2016 and 2018, respectively). The international San Francisco Chronicle wine competition is the largest international wine competition in the U.S., receiving more than 6,900 wines for consideration this year alone. Congratulations to us and to all the other wineries that put their heart and soul to these products.
A blend of Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre and Cinsault, 2015 Locus Red is playful, bright with enough heft and tannins that show aging potential. We released the wine at the November 2018 release party. We will celebrate the win once again at the April 2019 Spring party.
Also awarded at this year’s competition is the 2016 Locus Modo Red (SILVER) and soon to be released 2017 Locus Sémillon (SILVER).
Please join us on Saturday, July 28th from 3-7PM in Madrona neighborhood to celebrate the arrival of our annual Modo White blend, plus a few surprises: We are going to offer two very limited production wines that you can taste only at this party: 2017 Locus Sauvignon Blanc and 2016 Locus Garage Series 100% Cinsault. As always, we will pour through some of our current releases and pair everything with delicious bites by ESCA.
In case you missed the Spring party in April, we’ve made changes to the usual format: At the start of your tasting experience, there will be a check-in table at which we will check IDs (21 and over only, please). We will also collect a $5 tasting fee per person, which would be refunded with any purchase. If you are a Socius Wine Club member, the tasting fees are waived for you and your date/spouse/guest. Locus Wines will showcase 2017 Locus Rosé (recently the winner of Gold medal at the 2018 Seattle Wine Awards), 2016 Locus Modo White and 2016 Locus Modo Red at the event. Not just showcase but sell at the event too. Come say hi to winemaker Rich Burton who will be on hand to pour the wines.
Locus Wines winemaker Rich Burton will be on hand to pour at an impromptu Tasting Room Saturday, April 14th, from 1-5PM. The tasting room is making all Locus Wines available in wine flights, so you can taste them all before you commit to a glass or even better a bottle. Or two.
As you know, the Tasting Room always has Locus Wines as part of its flights but not all of them are on there usually and not all flights are all Locus. So, this impromptu tasting room event is indeed something special.
Chances are, Rich will stay way longer than the happy hour, so it is an opportunity to get some face time with the winemaker with very little interruption No need to RSVP or to call ahead. Just show up at your convenience.
The Tasting Room is located at 1924 Post Alley, Seattle, WA 98101 right across from Pink Door and next to Kell’s between Stewart and Virginia. You don’t need to call them to make a reservation but if you get lost and need to find them, call them at (206) 770-9463.
Finding yourself exclaiming “Spring is finally here!” only to wake up the next morning to snow and ice? We’d be lying if we said that hadn’t happened to us. Well, we’ve decided to take matters into our own hands, Mother Nature be damned. It’s time to officially usher in the sunshine and warmth with our annual Locus Spring Release Party!
Come join us on Saturday, April 21st from 2-6pm at 1515 Madrona Drive, Seattle, WA 98122 as we introduce the world to two new wines: the more-fragrant-than-it-has-a-right-to-be 2017 Locus Rosé and the 2016 Locus Modo Red – the Official Red Wine of Summer (we’re calling it now). As always, we will also be pouring all current releases and our resident culinarian will be pairing each wine with a spring-inspired culinary treat. Here is the wine lineup for the tasting:
- 2017 Locus Rosé – NEW (Grenache. Cinsault, Mourvédre blend)

We will also collect a $5 tasting fee per person. Don’t worry, though, it will be refunded with any purchase. Socius Wine Club members will have the fee waived.

November means it’s time for another Locus red to be released. This year, we’re happy to introduce the 2015 Locus Nord, the yin to the yang of the 2015 Locus Sud. “Nord” is the French word for “north” and we’ve fashioned this wine after some of our favorite Northern Rhône blends, which must be Syrah-dominant by law. It’s 64% Syrah (from the Strand and Gamache vineyards), 23% Cinsault and 13% Mourvèdre (both from the 7 Mile vineyard). While the Syrah dominates, the Cinsault brings bold fruit to the front of the palette, while the Mourvèdre adds a dark finish. We’re excited to share our inaugural Nord blend with the masses!
As always, we’ll be showcasing the current line-up of Locus wines, all paired with specially-designed culinary bites from Esca Catering. There will also be an exclusive treat in store for our Socius wine club members to enjoy. Come join us to celebrate the start of the holiday season and the release of the 2015 Locus Nord!
