This is great for us business-wise but also bittersweet. 2017 Locus Rosé was special: It won GOLD at the Seattle Wine Awards few months ago and it was a surprisingly crisp, well-balanced wine with complex fruit flavors, with a bone dry finish. Very Southern Rhone-like.

2017 Locus Rosé won a Gold medal at the 2018 Seattle Wine Awards. Locus Wines got a total of three medals for all of its three submissions at the 2018 Seattle Wine Awards, announced earlier today:
2017 Locus Rosé, GOLD in the Rosé Blended category.
2015 Locus Nord, SILVER in the Red Rhone category.
2016 Locus Modo Red, SILVER in the Proprietary Red Blend category.
The gold medal winners are going to be celebrated at a special event in September, aptly called 2018 Gold Medal Experience. Locus Wines has a history of winning at the Seattle Wine Awards, from as early as 2015 awards and onwards.
2017 Locus Rosé and 2016 Locus Modo Red were released officially few weeks ago and they are already flying off the shelves. A fresh update to the list of retailers and restaurants that carry Locus Wines coming later this week.
Locus Wines winemaker Rich Burton will pour his wines at Bellevue’s Seattle Wine Co. on Friday, April 27th from 4 to 6:30PM. This last-minute tasting is a great opportunity for some of the Eastsiders to get their Locus on, especially if they’ve missed out on the Spring Party last weekend.

Finding yourself exclaiming “Spring is finally here!” only to wake up the next morning to snow and ice? We’d be lying if we said that hadn’t happened to us. Well, we’ve decided to take matters into our own hands, Mother Nature be damned. It’s time to officially usher in the sunshine and warmth with our annual Locus Spring Release Party!
Come join us on Saturday, April 21st from 2-6pm at 1515 Madrona Drive, Seattle, WA 98122 as we introduce the world to two new wines: the more-fragrant-than-it-has-a-right-to-be 2017 Locus Rosé and the 2016 Locus Modo Red – the Official Red Wine of Summer (we’re calling it now). As always, we will also be pouring all current releases and our resident culinarian will be pairing each wine with a spring-inspired culinary treat. Here is the wine lineup for the tasting:
2017 Locus Rosé – NEW (Grenache. Cinsault, Mourvédre blend)
2016 Locus Rosé (Grenache. Cinsault, Mourvédre blend)
2016 Locus Modo White
2016 Locus Sémillon, Dineen Vineyards
2016 Locus Modo Red – NEW
2014 Locus Red (GSM blend)
2015 Locus Nord (Syrah heavy blend, in Northern Rhone style)
PLEASE NOTE: we’re making two changes to the usual format. There will be a check-in table at the start of your tasting experience at which we will check IDs (21 and over only, please). We will also collect a $5 tasting fee per person. Don’t worry, though, it will be refunded with any purchase. Socius Wine Club members will have the fee waived.
