Locus Wines Now Available at Seattle COSTCO (Everett and Covington COSTCO coming up)

In addition to Kirkland, Tukwila and Aurora Village COSTCO locations, Locus Wines are now available at Seattle SoDo location. You will find 2014 Locus Modo Red, a Merlot/Malbec blend as well as the 2015 Locus Sémillon from Dineen Vineyards.

We were at the Seattle COSTCO to promote the wines last weekend, and starting next week, we will infiltrate Everett and Covington locations. Dates TBD.

Purple Café in Seattle and Bellevue add Locus Sémillon

2015 Locus Sémillon is currently on the Purple Café’s glass pour list in its Seattle and Bellevue locations. The scarcity/rarity of good Sémillon from Washington wineries is not lost on them: Here is how they introduce the Locus Sémillon glass pour on their 108-page wine list encyclopedia…

semillon-from-menu

Sémillon is not rare of a grape in Washington actually but it is rarely revered. Some ofimg_4209_20160312_edited the Sémillon crops may lack acidity (especially in France where they generally mix it with Sauvignon Blanc for dry applications), but Rattlesnake Hills fruit from the renowned Dineen Vineyard certainly doesn’t. The problem with Washington Sémillons is that some of them are oaked. Just them the grape be, people. This is not your uncle’s Chardonnay. .

Go on and enjoy a nice glass of refreshing, balanced Sémillon with lots of aromas and a surprisingly rounded finish and mouth feel. At Purple café.

Locus Wines: Featured Winery at Local 360, Starting October 10th

localcafebarLocal 360 in Belltown is featuring Locus Wines all week this week, starting October 10th. Specifically, you will find these wines on the menu:

  • 2015 Locus Sémillon, Dineen Vineyard
  • 2015 Locus Rosé, Yakima Valley
  • 2014 Locus Modo Red, Columbia Valley
  • 2012 Locus Syrah, StoneTree Vineyard

This is one of the rare opportunities to get more of the StoneTree Syrah since we no longer have it available at retail locations.

rabbit-leg-wideLocal 360 is one of the rare sustainable restaurants in the Northwest. The 360 reference in the name is about sourcing 90% of all raw ingredients come from within 360 miles of Seattle.

The Locus team (Rich Burton, Ton Yazici) will be on hand to hang out/dine on October 11th, Tuesday evening from 6 to 8PM.

New Stores, Restaurants Adding Locus Wines…. September Edition

Joule in Freemont is loving the 2015 Locus Rosé for a few months now but they are not the only ones…. Madison Co-op, Leschi Mart, PCC Natural Markets, DeLaurenti, Grape Choice, Downtown Spirits, Bar Ferdinand, Sitka and Spruce (the latter two in form of private labeled for Bar Ferdinand) and PT Wine Seller (Port Townsend) are also feeling the Rosé love despite the dwindling Rosé season. (We drink Rosé year round, by the way).

As the Rosé season comes to a close, so are the supplies of our Rosé. What started as more than 500 cases are down to less than 35 cases. Sad but also cause for celebration since it means a new Locus Rosé is only 6 months away.

The trio of Costcos that are carrying the wines are still going strong. You can still find the 2015 Locus Sémillon and 2014 Locus Modo Red at Aurora Village, Kirkland and Tukwila Costcos.

Whole Foods also carry the wines but you need to know which wine is available where: In Whole Foods Bellevue, you can find the 2012 Locus Syrah from StoneTree Vineyard. The Whole Foods Westlake and Whole Foods Bellingham prefer to carry the 2014 Locus Modo Red.

For a comprehensive list of retail and restaurants that carry Locus Wines in state of Washington, visit the Retail and Restaurant Locations page.

Costco to Carry Locus Sémillon, Modo Red, Starting NOW

Locus Wines are infiltrating Costco locations in waves, starting this weekend at Tukwila SouthCenter Costco and then expanding in the metropolitan Seattle area stores. Specifically, Costco is going to carry the 2015 Locus Sémillon from Dineen Vineyard and the 2014 Locus Modo Red, a Merlot/Malbec blend.

To promote the new relationship, we (Locus folks and Barrique Imports crew in collaboration) are spending time at the various Costcos every Friday and Saturday to promote the wines, from 10AM to 6PM.

Yesterday, Rich and Barrique’s own Adrienne were on hand in Tukwila. Today, Barrique folks are going to continue the promotion. Barrique folks are going to continue with the presentations in Aurora location next weekend. Locus crew takes over Kirkland over the 2nd and 3rd of September. Please come and see us if you are in the neighborhood.
