Goodbye 2013 Locus Keller Vineyards Syrah, 2015 Locus Modo Red

2014 Locus Modo Red, as it was known by all who knew it, ran out on November 15, 2017. All 661 cases of the 2014 Locus Modo Red were ‘born’ in November 2015 in Seattle, Washington, as an ‘entry’ level Merlot, Malbec, Syrah and Cabernet blend but surprised all (including us) by its level of sophistication and ability to impress even the connoisseurs of wine. It got great ratings and reviews and sold like hotcakes at the Northwestern bars and restaurants as an accessible glass pour. It was preceded in inventory expiration by its superior, 2013 Locus Syrah from Keller Vineyards which is another sad story to tell but we are too verklempt to address that right now).

Locus Modo Red is survived by 2016 Locus Modo White, 2016 Locus Sémillon, 2016 Locus Rose, 2015 Locus Sud, 2014 Locus Red and 2015 Locus Nord.

Could there be another Modo Red in the works? Yes, yes, there could be. Stay tuned.

Locus Wines: Featured Winery at Local 360, Starting October 10th

localcafebarLocal 360 in Belltown is featuring Locus Wines all week this week, starting October 10th. Specifically, you will find these wines on the menu:

  • 2015 Locus Sémillon, Dineen Vineyard
  • 2015 Locus Rosé, Yakima Valley
  • 2014 Locus Modo Red, Columbia Valley
  • 2012 Locus Syrah, StoneTree Vineyard

rabbit-leg-wideLocal 360 is one of the rare sustainable restaurants in the Northwest. The 360 reference in the name is about sourcing 90% of all raw ingredients come from within 360 miles of Seattle.

The Locus team (Rich Burton, Ton Yazici) will be on hand to hang out/dine on October 11th, Tuesday evening from 6 to 8PM.

New Stores, Restaurants Adding Locus Wines…. September Edition

Joule in Freemont is loving the 2015 Locus Rosé for a few months now but they are not the only ones…. Madison Co-op, Leschi Mart, PCC Natural Markets, DeLaurenti, Grape Choice, Downtown Spirits, Bar Ferdinand, Sitka and Spruce (the latter two in form of private labeled for Bar Ferdinand) and PT Wine Seller (Port Townsend) are also feeling the Rosé love despite the dwindling Rosé season. (We drink Rosé year round, by the way).

As the Rosé season comes to a close, so are the supplies of our Rosé. What started as more than 500 cases are down to less than 35 cases. Sad but also cause for celebration since it means a new Locus Rosé is only 6 months away.

The trio of Costcos that are carrying the wines are still going strong. You can still find the 2015 Locus Sémillon and 2014 Locus Modo Red at Aurora Village, Kirkland and Tukwila Costcos.

Whole Foods also carry the wines but you need to know which wine is available where: In Whole Foods Bellevue, you can find the 2012 Locus Syrah from StoneTree Vineyard. The Whole Foods Westlake and Whole Foods Bellingham prefer to carry the 2014 Locus Modo Red.

For a comprehensive list of retail and restaurants that carry Locus Wines in state of Washington, visit the Retail and Restaurant Locations page.

Ruth’s Chris, Bardenay, Rupert’s and Boise Co-op Get Locus

PhototasticCollage-2016-06-25-08-41-18‘Gorgeous blueberry, black tea and a hint of nutmeg’ is how Bardenay in Boise describes the 2014 Locus Modo Red, available on their wine list as a featured item these days. How can we disagree?

Also in Boise: The 2014 Locus Sémillon from Dineen Vineyards at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse as well as the 2014 Locus Modo Red at the Boise Co-op.

Outside Boise? No worries. In the beautiful lakeside town of McCall also offers Locus Wines at Rupert’s, arguably the best hotel and best restaurant in town. (If you have never been to McCall, you are missing out. It is beyond beautiful)

Our winemaker Rich Burton, and Idaho son himself, is currently in Idaho doing tastings. Catch him in McCall on Sunday, June 26th at Jug Mountain Ranch Golf Club, pouring the 2015 Locus Rosé with several Washington greats like the Dunham Cellars and Balboa, from 2-5PM.
